Library & Tract Ministry

church_library_headerIn an effort to provide the latest and most up-to-date resources for Bible study and Christian learning, a small library has been set up in the basement just off the fellowship room. It is available for use during church office hours, before and after worship services and by special appointment.

Since it cannot be manned at all times, books and other materials will be checked out according to the honor system. Members will check out the resources by writing their name and the date on the first blank line available on the checkout book located on the table near the door. Remember that that there may be others wanting to use the same material as you, so please limit yourself to a few items at a time and return them within two weeks.   If you would like to reserve an item please fill out a card and leave it in the basket on the table.  One of our library volunteers  will contact you when your request becomes available.

Donations of books and other resources are gladly accepted for the library. We ask that items donated be in excellent condition and within five years of publication (Bible Commentaries and Reference material may be older). There is a special need for Christian children’s material, self-help and edification material, Christian fiction, and audio/video resources. Donated items become the property of the Lincoln Park Church of Christ. Due to limitations of space, suitability of items donated will be reviewed with some materials being disposed of as deemed necessary.

Volunteers in this ministry would be responsible for keeping the library in an orderly condition by reshelving books and videos, cataloguing new donations, following up on member requests and contacting members when a request becomes available. In addition, volunteers will be responsible for keeping the tract racks in the building filled and for notifying office staff when supplies run low. They may also be asked to review possible new tract offerings.
