Man has much to learn, not only from his youth, but even to the time of his death! There are so many things we do not now. One person has observed that the older he became and the more he learned, the more he realized that he did not know. We need to realize our need to be taught of God (Isaiah 2:3) and that His way are not necessarily the ways we want to walk (Isaiah 42:24, 55:8).
But even when we are willing to be taught by God, there are things that we may not fully know. This is probably the reason why Moses stated “the secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law. Deuteronomy 29:29).
Even when some things are revealed we may not be able to fully grasp them, but we accept them on faith because God said so. One of those things is the “Triune God” (Father, Son, Holy Spirit). And another closely related to this is that Jesus was both God and Man.
Scholarly men have wrestled with this since the coming of Christ to earth. It is certainly a matter of accepting by faith what we cannot possibly rationally explain with our limited knowledge-that is, how could Deity become man and still be Deity? We will continue to look at this in Part 2 of this week’s sermon on the Fleshly existence of God through Jesus.
