Who’s in Control

2 Samuel 11

Sometimes we forget who is in control!

David SENT Joab out with the king’s men… (11:1).

What usually happens when we are in a place we are not supposed to be?

David SENT someone to find out about her (v. 3).

Then David SENT messengers to get her (v. 4).

Was this a private or public sin?

Why does God tell us about Bathsheba’s uncleanness (v. 4)?

The woman conceived and SENT word to David… (v. 5).

So David SENT this word to Joab…(v. 6).  When we lie, we generally have to get others involved.

SEND me Uriah the Hittite.(v. 6)

And Joab SENT him to David (v. 6).

and a gift from the king was SENT after him (v. 8).

Did Uriah know of David’s sin with his wife?

Israelite soldiers had no sexual relations while they were preparing for battle (I Samuel 21:5).

“Tomorrow I will SEND you back.” (v. 12)

David wrote a letter to Joab and SENT it with Uriah (v. 14).

David broke seven out of the Ten Commandments!

Joab SENT David a full account of the battle (v. 18).

he told David everything Joab had SENT him to say (v. 22).

Some versions, “SENT for her” (v. 27).

Chapter 11 the Lord records thirteen times the word SENT.

But the thing David had done displeased the Lord (v. 27). HEBREW – Made God sick!

The Lord SENT Nathan to David. (12:1). God only has to SEND one time!

Conclusion Lesson?  To grow we must get rid of sin and we are not in control.
